About

I've been a journalist and communicator for more than 35 years: writing, editing, design, photography and videography for nonprofits, newspapers (same thing?), magazines, websites, and more. I've co-written four books, including Go Tell It: How and Why to Report God's Stories in Words, Photos and Video (2014, Moody Publishers).
As a journalist and trainer, I have traveled the globe, producing news stories and photos about ministry work and its impact. I've taught communications workshops to hundreds of people on four continents. More about that at gotellit.net. You also can find some of my past work at Crossfield News. In ministry, I've led a staff of writers and editors reporting on Bible translation work around the world. From 1995 to 2012 I served as adviser for the Northern Star, the daily student newspaper at Northern Illinois University. The paper was recognized as one of the best in the nation.
I'm also a passionate nature photographer, specializing in the Midwest and (whenever I can get there) the Mountain West.
My wife and I live in Rockford, Illinois.
